This guideline will help you use Pronunciation Patterns to improve your accent and fluency.

Objective: With Pronunciation Patterns, you don't just surf online, but also learn English online

Here is how you can improve your English and speaking online:

1. Go to a news web site such as Voice of America News.

2. Open one of the articles with the icon.

3. Click MP3 - Download (MP3) to open the mp3 file in the PPS media player.

4. Click the right mouse button to set the play speed.

5. Now, you speak after the announcer in the audio.

6. If you feel that you need to repeat a particular sentence, just right click the mouse to choose Record as the Starting Position. After you set the starting position, you can play the audio file from that position by choosing the Play from Recorded Starting Position.

7. Pay attention how the speaker in the audio link words together.

8. If you don't know how to pronounce a word, you just need to double click or highlight the word. You will see a menu which allows you to add the word into your learning list.

9. You can select either "say the word" or "say the word and add to your learning list."

10. If the word is not found in your computer, you shall see a windows to guide you to download the sound file from our server to your computer. (The default folder is C:\Program Files\Pronunciation Patterns\Sounds\Samples.)

11. If we don't have the word audio file in our server, now you can use the latest online Text-2-Speech (Available as is) to help you pronounce the word.

The latest version of Pronunciation Patterns will display all the words at the right side of the Studying English Online page according to Ebbinghaus Forgetting Curve. Now you can click the button to let Pronunciation Patterns play for you automatically. (Don't forget that you can set how many times you want the words to be played before moving the next one.)
